An example of a Class Visit: to St Marien School, Vienna
Invited by teacher Evelyn Grabner, Elisabeth Ben David-Hindler spoke to students about the project Stones of Remembrance initiative and read the life stories of young people that had been commemorated by the project. Students were particularly affected by the idea that children of ages similar to their’s had to leave their parents and go abroad on their own.
Francis Deutsch who came to Vienna to inaugurate the memorial stone for his mother, also spoke to students about his experience of having to flee to England at the age of 13. He was prepared to speak out about his fate and that of his family, and answer questions from students. It was a very moving lesson for all.
