Ceremonial opening of three “Stations of Remembrance” in Alsergrund on 10.04.2025

The first opening of 2025 will take place in Arne Karlsson Park. This park was named after the Swede Arne Karlsson (1912-1947) on July 10, 1947. He was an employee of the Swedish aid organization Rädda Barnen, which distributed food to the starving population of Vienna. As part of his relief work, Arne Karlsson was shot dead by a Russian military post on June 11, 1947 while on a business trip.

Head of the district lSaya Ahmad welcomes all those present and gives an impressive speech.

Celina Gleisner and Sonja Hackl are here from the Swedish Embassy – Family members of the first address are here from Sweden today.

Pichlergasse 5:

This stone is for Otto, Charlotte, Heinz and Franzi Wagenberg

Anne-Charlotte Stam-Rosenberg initiated this stone for her grandparents, her uncle and her mother. Anne-Charlotte’s mother would have been 100 years old next month.

From the Rosenberg family we welcome Anne-Charlotte, her daughter Agnes and her husband Jan from Sweden. Her cousin Georg Bungarten and his girlfriend Britta, as well as her friend Marika Wäreborn and her husband Henrik are coming from Cologne.

Christian and Eva-Maria Beer are here: they live in the apartment where the Wagenbergs used to live.

Wilhelm-Exner-Gasse 23:

The stone for the former residents was initiated by a current resident: Ms. Gudrun Haller.

We also commemorate Rachel and Isak Weisskopf on behalf of the many people deported and murdered from this house.

His mother Sieglinde Fraser and her brother Volker, Siegfried’s grandson, his father Kenneth Fraser, his brother Ossian Fraser and Maria Radin, the partner of Kieran’s brother Severin, are also here. Unfortunately, Severin can’t be here today.

A nice contribution from “theStandard” to today’s opening:
