Inauguration April 2026

Inauguration of two ‘Stations of Remembrance’ in Alsergrund on 16 April 2026
The first opening of 2026 begins in the square in front of the Servite Church.
On behalf of the association, Roswitha Hammer welcomes relatives and friends from Austria and Australia.
The association is delighted that District Mayor Saya Ahmad is present once again and welcomes everyone with a speech.
The group walks together to the two locations.

Müllnergasse 6

Stone of Remembrance for Ida Willheim
Ernst Willheim initiated this memorial stone in honour of his paternal grandmother.
We welcome Ernst and Mary Louise Willheim and their family, as well as Heinz Popovic – also a grandson of Ida – his partner Barbara Weinmayr, and great-grandson Ali Popovic.
Several residents of the building have kindly agreed to clean the stones regularly.

Marktgasse 58

Plaque for Emanuel and Elisabeth Spitz and their daughter Ruth Spitz
This plaque was commissioned by Sue Rogers in memory of her grandparents
A warm welcome to the granddaughters Sue Rogers and her sister Annie, together with their partners, adult children and family from Vienna.

Plaques were also installed at two further addresses; unfortunately, the initiators were unable to attend.

Schlickgasse 5

A memorial stone for Mordechai Isak Weissberg and Sara Weissberg, née Rothstein, initiated by their great-grandson Nils Whitmont.

Hörlgasse 4

For residents.
This plaque was made possible by Mr Reinhard Nibler.
He wished to commemorate his wife’s great-grandparents, Gustav Beran and Nathalie Beran, née Tandler. When research revealed that the correct address was Burgring 1 and that Hörlgasse 4 was merely the Berans’ deportation address, Mr Nibler spontaneously decided to have stones installed at both addresses.
