Ceremonial opening of the 19th section of the Path of Remembrance through Leopoldstadt, Part 1 on Sunday, June 15, 2025
On the green space in front of the Augarten, Ms. Roswitha Hammer opens today’s Path of Remembrance. More than 50 people have come together to commemorate.
Musically accompanied by the music group Avanim (Daliah Hindler—vocals, Karin Waniek—vocals, Christoph Kögler—accordion):
Ms. Hammer introduces the families involved and outlines the program. District mayor Alexander Nikolai then gives a speech.
Rembrandtstraße 41:
We commemorate Charlotte and Erika Fisch, as well as Norbert Frage and Joachim Fuchs.
Stones for Charlotte and Erika Fisch are unveiled on the initiative of their aunt and cousin Judith Fish from the USA.
Craig Kessler (from the USA) speaks on behalf of all those who were unfortunately unable to attend.
Irene Wieser has provided a sponsorship for Norbert Frage and Joachim Fuchs.
Rembrandtstraße 39:
We commemorate Simel and Gittel Blaustein, as well as Cipre Zeisel.
Stones for Simel and Gittel Blaustein are unveiled on the initiative of their great-granddaughter Hannah Russell from Germany.
We also welcome Judy Barnes, Debbie Barnes, and Marvin Russell from the US.

We commemorate Rosalie and Pinkas Fisch, as well as Julie Kreilisheim.
The stones for Pinkas Moritz and Rosalie Fisch are unveiled on the initiative of their granddaughter Judith Fish from the USA.

We commemorate Aron, Eva, Isaak, and Minna Schwertfinger.
Stones for Aron, Eva, Isaak, and Minna Schwertfinger are being unveiled on the initiative of Dorit Rom from Israel for her great-uncle and his family. We welcome her sister Dafna Safra and her husband Tamir Safra from Israel, her son Aviv from Singapore, her son Itai and his wife Jessica with her husband Yehoshua, and their two daughters Leah and Eden.

We commemorate Markus Schächter, Adele Lieder, and Therese Schwarz.
The stone for Markus Schächter is unveiled on the initiative of his great-granddaughter Judith Fish from the USA.

A plaque commemorating the former residents of the building will be unveiled on the initiative of the houseowners.
A fellow resident speaks on behalf of the community.

We commemorate Mirjam, Majer, and Hermine Schechner.
Stones for Mirjam, Majer, and Hermine Schechner are unveiled on the initiative of Noëmie Wurmser-Rosenberg for her great-grandparents and great-aunt.
Family members from Switzerland and France have come today: Mr. Schimon Rosenberg with Evelyn Lévy, Trudi and André Jobart, Noëmie Wurmser-Rosenberg with her children Léonie with Artthik, Gregory, and Anthony Wurmser with Alissa.

Sherry Strauss-Lieber is there with her three sons and two grandchildren.
Theresa Somogyi-Perez and her husband come from Costa Rica, and her son Rica arrives from Spain with his son and wife. Fifteen other family members gather in Vienna for the occasion.
